Tacos El Compadre, the family-owned Selma taqueria known for its al pastor trompo and 2 a.m. weekend hours, opens its first Fresno location this Friday at 4880 N Blackstone Ave, in the former Baja Fresh space north of Shields.
The 4,200-square-foot restaurant seats 90 and features a full open kitchen, a walk-up trompo, and a drive-thru — a first for the family-owned chain, which has operated locations in Selma, Kingsburg, and Reedley for more than 20 years.
"Fresno has been asking us for a location for at least a decade," owner Ricardo Vasquez said. "We finally have the right building." Hours will be 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Grand-opening specials include $2 street tacos all weekend and a free horchata with any combo plate on Friday.
