Clovis Unified rolls out new bell schedule at all comprehensive high schools
The change is aimed at improving academic performance and complying with California's later-start-time law.

Clovis Unified School District will implement a new bell schedule at all five comprehensive high schools — Clovis, Clovis East, Clovis North, Clovis West, and Buchanan — starting on the first day of the 2026-27 school year, superintendent Dr. Corrine Folmer confirmed.
The first bell will move to 8:30 a.m., a 20-minute shift from previous years, to comply with California Senate Bill 328, which mandates that high schools start no earlier than 8:30 a.m.
Dismissal times will shift correspondingly to 3:30 p.m. on regular days. Wednesday early-release days will now end at 2:15 p.m. rather than 2 p.m.
"We know this affects family schedules, sports, and after-school jobs, and we appreciate the community's patience as we make this transition," Folmer said. A full schedule and FAQ has been posted at cusd.com/bellschedule.
