The Fresno Unified School District board of trustees on Wednesday named three finalists in its search for the district's next superintendent, following a national search launched after Bob Nelson announced his retirement earlier this year.
The finalists are: Dr. Misty Her, current FUSD deputy superintendent; Dr. Ana Boyenga, superintendent of the Elk Grove Unified School District; and Dr. James Martinez, a former principal at Roosevelt High School who now leads a charter network in Bakersfield.
"All three bring deep California public education experience and a real understanding of what our students need," board president Susan Wittrup said in a statement.
Public forums with each candidate will be held next Tuesday at Fresno High School and Wednesday at Sunnyside High School, both from 6 to 8 p.m. The board is expected to make a final selection by the end of the month.
