Clovis Unified School District will expand its free after-school tutoring program to eight additional elementary and middle schools this fall, superintendent Dr. Corrine Folmer announced Monday. The expansion is funded by a $2.4 million state Expanded Learning Opportunities Program grant and brings the program to 23 of the district's 43 school sites. Tutoring is available in reading and math for students in grades 2 through 8, with certified teachers running small groups from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. "We saw meaningful gains at the pilot schools last year, especially in second- and third-grade reading," Folmer said. Parents can enroll through the ParentVUE portal or by contacting their school's front office. Space is limited, and the district expects several sites to fill within the first two weeks.
