The City of Fresno Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services (PARCS) department manages ten community gardens across the city, from the Cary Park garden in the Tower District to the Roeding Park plots off Belmont Avenue.
Annual plot fees run $40 for a standard 10x20 plot and $25 for a raised bed. Applications open every January and July, and most sites — especially Cary Park and Al Radka Park — have waitlists of six months to a year.
To apply: visit fresno.gov/parcs, click Community Gardens, and fill out the interest form for your preferred site. You can list up to three sites in order of preference.
Beginners have the best luck at the newer gardens: the Southeast Fresno garden at Roosevelt High and the Central Fresno garden at Hyde Park typically have shorter waitlists than the marquee Tower District plots.
